As one of those geezers in his grey, tired, wizened 50s, I'm torn between the cranky get-offa-my-lawn attitude and a patronizing bless-their-little-hearts when I see all these young'uns romping about at meetings nowadays.

It's called capture myopathy. Wild things are horrified by human handling, some more than others, and the little guy would have been cortisol-saturated from his initial capture and probable long-term isolation from a pack. Sometimes even the most sensitive handling and treatment is too much, and the animal dies. Happens in birds, too.

My bad, Grrlsci. Didn't do a biological profile check on coyote and should have, being more a bird-type person. Thanks for correction.

I suspect the coyote died as a result of being mugged.
