Halfway there!

Woo-hoo!

Sometime yesterday, while I was in clinic, my Sitemeter hit 500,000 visits!

Let's see, it took one year, five months, and two days to reach that level. When I started my blog I never imagined it would reach 100,000 visits, much less a half a million. (Of course, it takes PZ a little more than a month to rack up that many visits, which keeps me humble--at least as humble as a surgeon can be.) In any case, thanks to my readers who like what I'm laying down and the bloggers who discovered me early on and gave my humble blog a boost.

How long to a million? Let's find out.

...and we thank you. If you look down yonder left, you'll see that my SiteMeter counter passed 100,000 visits earlier today. To be precise, a visitor from the University of Edinburgh's Moray House Institute of Education dialed into ScienceBlogs' 'Last 24 Hours' channel at 2037 GMT and clicked on my…

"The very closest stars would require many years to visit, even traveling at the speed of light, which is impossible according to Einstein's theory of relativity. Today's fastest spaceships would require 200,000 years to travel to Alpha Centauri, our closest bright star. The energy required to send…

This post startled the heck out of me, because Halfway There is the name of my own blog.

Congratulations on reaching the half million mark.

;-)

... as humble as a surgeon can be...

So you only see yourself as a minor diety at this time? Congratulations.

Err...I meant congratulations on getting to 500K visits, not on getting your ego downsized.

So, Zeno, do you think when your namesake was a kid, he rode on the back of the chariot saying "Are we halfway there yet?"

Congrats, Orac! May the next 5.e+5 come in a small fraction of the time for the first.

If I ever need to get surgery done in your area, I'll... well, I'll probably go to whoever my HMO will pay for. I will be wanting to consult you, however...
