Jon Swift on Rush Limbaugh

Last week, I wrote a couple of posts about Rush Limbaugh's despicable attacks on Michael J. Fox for appearing in an ad for a Democrat who supports loosening the federal ban on funding for embryonic stem cell research. Somehow, I missed the fact that Jon Swift also wrote on the topic. And, as is typical, he did it in a much more humorous fashion than I could.

More like this

Yesterday afternoon, while working on grants, I was flipping through radio channels, and I came across something that stopped my dial twiddling in its tracks. It was Rush Limbaugh, and he was trashing Michael J. Fox for making a commercial in support of stem cell research. As you may recall,…
A bunch of others beat me to it ( href="http://scienceblogs.com/grrlscientist/2006/10/lush_rumball_an_ignoramus.php">1 href="http://scienceblogs.com/insolence/2006/10/despicable_rhetoric_from_rush_limbaugh_1.php">2 href="http://scienceblogs.com/bushwells/2006/10/…
Ted Baehr, Christian movie reviewer and propagandist, has an essay at the Worldview Weekend site where he rather brazenly accuses MIchael J. Fox and "liberal elites" of lying about stem cell research. In the process, he tells some whoppers himself. When is a lie not a lie? According to America's…
This one's for you, Afarensis (all in good fun, of course--well, for the most part, anyway): Here's Jeff Suppan, pitcher for the Cardinals (who, it just so happens, will be starting game four of the World Series tonight) appearing prominently along with Patricia Heaton, Jim Caviezel, and other…

Thank you for the link, I have added it to my Favorites. I guess Rush really is "A Big Fat Idiot". (Thank you Al Franken)

If Rush has a scintilla of intellectual honesty he would have fully acknowledged, by now, that he shot his mouth off without any facts to back it up.

Good thing Terry Schiavo was not a left wing media type.

" Rush Limbaugh's despicable attacks on Michael J. Fox for appearing in an ad for a Democrat who supports loosening the federal ban on funding for embryonic stem cell research"...

Hmmm, and just what planet did this happen on?

Can you tell me if your take on this alledged attack by Rush on twitchy was within 80 million lightyears of reality?

Apparently the fact that Fox was lying apparently doesn't mean anything to you otherwise this "alledged attack" you mention would of had a bit more substance...

BTW why should my tax dollars go to funding embryonic stem cell research when it shows no promise? What's wrong with venture capital sources if embryonic stem cell research is as promising as those floating this inane idea claim?

Didn't it bother you not at all that Fox admitted he hadn't read Amendment 2 that liars and knaves are trying to float here in Missouri?

Just how tenuous is YOUR grip on reality?

Actually, my take on Rush's despicable attack on Michael J. Fox was spot on. Do you have any evidence that Fox was lying? Please present it.

As for stem cells "showing no promise," now it's time for me to ask how tenuous your grip on reality is. They may have been oversold by some people, but there is no doubt that they hold considerable promise for a number of diseases.

Oh, and, by the way, I did read entire text of the proposed amendment. I'm guessing that you haven't. If you want to see lots of lies and distortions, you should look at the ad against the proposed amendment featuring celebrities like Jeff Suppan, Patricia Heaton, et al distorting, fearmongering, and basically lying up a storm about the content of the amendment.

Can you tell me if your take on this alledged attack by Rush on twitchy was within 80 million lightyears of reality?

(Emphasis in original)

It is clear, Mr juandos, that you are only too eager to attack someone who suffers from a severe disability - like a sick playground bully who beats up the kid with crutches.

"It is clear, Mr juandos, that you are only too eager to attack someone who suffers from a severe disability - like a sick playground bully who beats up the kid with crutches"...LOL! Why not? Only a complete and utter fool picks on someone bigger and badder than himself... Are you a fool Mr. Swifty?

Apparently you've not been paying attention Mr. Swifty...

You had several days to do some homework and apparently you thought baffling me with your bull$h!T would work instead...

"Michael J. Fox was spot on"... Oh yeah? Spot on what Swifty?

Spot on lying and admitting it on ABC if YOU had a clue or attempted to do some homework...

Apparently you didn't do any homework before you decided to make a fool of yourself did you Swifty?

Did you even bother to look at Missouri's Amendment 2?

I'm guessing not...

Did you bother to check out Fox's dispicable commercial he made for the socialist, lying lib-tard (a.k.a. Democrat) McCaskill?

Where does "twitchy get off accusing the Republican Jim Talent of not wanting to fund stem cell research? Do you know what Jim Talent's track record is on stem cell research Swifty?

Swifty do you know the difference between embryonic stem cells and adult stem cells for instance when it comes promising therapies?

Hey Swifty if embryonic stem cells offer so much alledged promise then why to the pushers of this amendment want taxpayer money to finance it?

Why Swifty did you insist on making an A$$ of yourself?

Did you bother to check out Fox's dispicable commercial he made for the socialist, lying lib-tard (a.k.a. Democrat) McCaskill?

Yes, and I checked out the lame response ad with Patricia Heaton lying through her teeth about the proposed amendment leading to women selling their eggs for purposes of making blastocysts for embryonic stem cell research, too.

In any case, the point was that Rush's attacks on Michael J. Fox were based on his utter ignorance of Parkinson's disease and a desire to smear the messenger telling a story he didn't want to hear, rather than substantively discuss the pros and cons of embryonic stem cell research in a dispassionate way. His accusation that Fox was acting was despicable. Of course, it got him a lot of media attention, which was probably the point all along.

In any case, the origin of much of the propaganda directed against stem cell research is discussed here.

Hey Swifty if embryonic stem cells offer so much alledged promise then why to the pushers of this amendment want taxpayer money to finance it?

Why stop there? After all, if all these new biological therapies supposedly show so much promise against cancer, even though it's taken decades to develop them, why should the NIH keep using our tax dollars to finance them? In fact, by your "logic," we shouldn't fund any research that might take many years to result in practical treatments for human diseases.

Taxpayer funding is used precisely for research into therapies that might take many years to reach fruition, mainly because the bottom line-obsessed pharmaceutical companies are unlikely to fund such research. That's how the NIH made the U.S. the biomedical research powerhouse of the word.

In any case, I'm clearly wasting my time with you; I sense a troll, and when I start seeing insults thrown my way I cease to take trolls like you seriously.

YOU socialist, parasitic lib-tards just can't stop lying can you?

You don't do your homework and that's nothing short of pathetic...

Adult Stem Cells v. Embryonic Stem Cells

Your sense of shame must be totally nonexistent as is your ability to understand the wording of Amendment 2 as this idiotic posting by you shows in all its inane glory... Apparently YOU have a very hard if not impossible time of differentiating between embryonic stem cells and the other sorts Jim Talent does support (which I don't agree with) spending federal dollars on...

Regrading your comment: "Why stop there? There SHOULD BE NO NIH in the first place and yes why are federal tax dollars going to finance any sort of work other than what the Constitution demands?

What part of the Constitution mandates federal interference in the medical field? I don't care how many years it takes to find a therepy, that's no excuse for extorting from the productive so the federal government can pander the PARASITES!...

Do some homework so you at least have a clue and won't look like such a fool...

You sir are a socialist moron in the Al Gore tradition (I'm guessing you might believe in the fairy tale called global warming but I don't care) and your site is most definitely a waste of bandwidth...

Troll? The only troll I can see here is the one with the blog site making the fallacious claim of having some understanding of science...

Good Day and Good Bye Loser!

Your sense of shame must be totally nonexistent as is your ability to understand the wording of Amendment 2 as this idiotic posting by you shows in all its inane glory... Notice that "juandos" doesn't even try to demonstrate that my take on Amendment 2 is flawed. He just brings up the red herring of Jim Talent, which has nothing to do with the lies about Amendment 2 told by Patricia Heaton, Jeff Suppan, and Jim Caviezel in the ad.

There SHOULD BE NO NIH in the first place and yes why are federal tax dollars going to finance any sort of work other than what the Constitution demands?

So you're saying the NIH is un-Constitutional? Do tell. Even if that were true, that wouldn't stop the states from funding medical research if they so desired--which is what Missouri is proposing doing. Personally, I don't like the idea of enshrining stem cell research in a state constitution (passing a law should be enough), but that's up to Missouri and Missourians. What I don't like is a campaign of lies about embryonic stem cell research.

You sir are a socialist moron in the Al Gore tradition (I'm guessing you might believe in the fairy tale called global warming but I don't care) and your site is most definitely a waste of bandwidth...

You, sir, are just a moron in the long tradition of morons everywhere. As for my blog being a waste of bandwidth, you certainly spent enough time reading and commenting here. Thanks for boosting my hit count, troll.

Wow. No wonder the Repubby party is so doomed. With constituents like him, who needs enemas. Oh, I mean enemies.

Sooooo.... Did juandos actually make a point?

No?

And he said you were a waste of bandwidth, Orac?

No sense of irony...

[Haiku="Bad"]
juandos makes no point.
Says Orac is wasting time.
Pot, kettle, black, jaun.

"How is YOUR tin FOil supply? Have you FINISHED covering all of the ceilings IN your house?"

Haha, like that will work. Everyone knows the mind-control rays come from underground!

What few people seem to grasp about the mind control rays, is that lining you walls, ceiling and floor with lead is the only way to be safe.

DuWayne, all that lead for your house would be very expensive, and give you lead poisoning and the related reduced intelligence, irritability, dementia, learning disability - hey wait, I think juan already did line his house with lead.

What few people seem to grasp about the mind control rays, is that lining you walls, ceiling and floor with lead is the only way to be safe.

No, no; you need to find a way to get the lead inside your body - that's the only thing that works.

Hey lib-tards, how is your collective grip on reality? Tenuous as usual it seems...

Then Swifty the Troll whines: "You, sir, are just a moron in the long tradition of morons everywhere. As for my blog being a waste of bandwidth, you certainly spent enough time reading and commenting here. Thanks for boosting my hit count, troll"...

Well beating on lib-tards is even more fun then kicking out the crutches of cripples and urinating on them while they thrash around in the dirt...

Dose your mommy know you are playing with her computer Swifty the Troll?

Heh.

I knew the loser troll juandos would be back. Whenever a troll like him says something like "Good day and goodbye" with a fluorish, you know he'll be back. He just can't help himself.
