While I am on vacation, I'm reprinting a number of "Classic Insolence" posts to keep the blog active while I'm gone. (It also has the salutory effect of allowing me to move some of my favorite posts from the old blog over to the new blog, and I'm guessing that quite a few of my readers have…
This week, Seed asks its ScienceBloggers: How is it that all the PIs (Tara, PZ, Orac et al.), various grad students, post-docs, etc. find time to fulfill their primary objectives (day jobs) and blog so prolifically?... As you probably know, I find myself in the grad student demographic, and as…
I was going to join PZ Myers, ERV, and Pamela Ronald in helping out an old blogging friend and former host of the Skeptics' Circle, Karl Mogel of The Inoculated Mind by pimping his other science-based blog Biofortified, which seeks to provide a science- and evidence-based discussion of plant…
It's that time again. Round and round the Skeptics' Circle goes, coming rapidly around to arrive yet again in less than a week. This time around, it's set to land on next Thursday, June 19 at Ionian Enchantment. Blog-specific instructions for submitting your pearls of skepticism, science, and…

4. The formulation of state and local laws regarding ID.

5. And of course frequent reports on court rulings.

If I may whore myself for a minute, here is the beginning of a series I did on a very troubling clash between Christianity and Islam on the UC Irvine campus. You may have seen it in the news, but I was there, and it was worse (and much, much more troubling) than they made it seem.

If you don't have a lot of time, the real craziness happens in parts 3 and 4. I'd suggest reading the first two parts as well, though - it's interesting to see how an "open dialogue" panel discussion turned into a rally of almost unfettered Christian hate.

Fun in-depth interview PZ!
