Josh Rosenau managed to get a few words with Barack Obama. He only had five minutes, but it's interesting stuff—it's too bad there wasn't time for some questions about science or science policy!

When the time came to schedule this European odyssey that we're currently on, I discovered two things. First, that it was going to be a hell of a lot cheaper to fly on the 18th of December than on the 22nd, and second that it really is cheaper to book a regular round trip ticket than a multi-city…
I always try to watch debates by erasing all of my prior information, just like a "virgin" voter, seeing the candidates for the first time. And with such a mindset, I have to say I was proud to be a Democrat last night! There were three formidable people up on the stage, obviously intelligent,…
Tonight I'm assembling an appendix to my thesis. Plot some data; bring it into Illustrator to clean up the formatting; write a caption and add it to the LaTeX document. Rinse; lather; repeat. I'm using an egg timer - I can handle 45 minutes of this boring stuff if I get to blog when it dings.

It is obvious in the United States that we need to replace the executive with a Democrat and add a few senators in the mix, in order to undo 8 years of Republican policy and replace it with four to 8 years of Democratic policy. This is because Democratic policy is better. Not great, just better…

His science policy is apparently that its ok for the feds to know what you're reading at your local library.
Plus, if I'm not mistaken, he said torture was not a big deal.
I sent the Senator (I have standing as an IL res) an email asking him to please slap Senator Frist when Fris was being stupid last year about teaching ID in schools. Senator Obama did not comment on my request, (he is after all a smart politician), BUT he did say that he does NOT want ID taught in schools.
The problem is, as his vote on the USAPATRIOT act renewal indicates, he will shed all vestiges of reason to 'win'. The fact of the matter is that there is nothing American or patriotic about this act or its renewal, and the only reason it passed 89-10 in the senate is because Dems like Obama decided they wanted to sacrifice their ideals to appeal to American's misprioritized need for 'security'.
If you can't take a stand on this most basic of issues- constitutional rights vs looking butch- then theres no telling what else you might fold on. I'm sure if he thought appearing anti-religious would lead to a 'loss' he'd slap your kids up beside the head with a good ol' dose o' ID before you can say 'imperial presidency' three times, fast.
89-10 folks! No one in the senate can honestly claim they didnt know what they were voting on this time.
