Read about this yesterday. Apparently what they find offensive is talk of burning the (Christian) Bible.
I saw this a few days ago and... hell I can't even finish what I was going to say. It's just too damn sad, so I'll just quote the article.
Alton Verm's request to ban "Fahrenheit 451" came during the 25th annual Banned Books Week. He and Hines said the request to ban "Fahrenheit 451," a book about book burning, during Banned Books Weeks is a coincidence.
"As a public library, we are the library for everyone," Williams said. "The school library is meant to be the library for that select group at that school."

The fact that one of the books burned by the government in F451 is the Bible is a strong focus in this complaint. The fact that the book considers this to be a horrific thing makes the Christians' outrage at F451 terribly ironic.
Of course the fact that they want to ban a book whose entire focus is that banning books is a horrible thing trumps all irony.
Banning and burning books is just wrong.
Not surprising that the people who want to ban them don't read much,
other than the popular fiction that is the bible. And that's a pretty violent book.
