I am too capable of surrendering gracefully

I guess Mark A. R. Kleiman has won our little debate. His prize is that his position wins a starring role in a Jesus and Mo comic.

I just can't compete with that. Case closed.

He hates Tiktaalik. He hates it so much he even has a hard time spelling its name correctly. Tikaalik is again being popularized through the new PBS series "Your Inner Fish.'' it's really a desperate con job on the part of evolutionists who can't defend their evolutionary fictional story. He…
Rudy Giuliani, the erstwhile US Presidential hopeful, had his moment on Tuesday's CNN debate. I'm sure you've seen it. Over and over again. I won't bother doing it here. If you haven't seen it, here is a YouTube version. Rudy is explaining his "Catholic position" on abortion (you know which one,…
For most people in the US, this is a day off. For most academics in the US, this is already summer. Not so for us-- we're on trimesters, so we're still in session, and have classes scheduled. This tends to undercut the solemnity of the occasion. There's also an Admissions event today, and then I'm…
Last week's guess-the-number contest for my spare copy of Massive by Ian Sample generated over 150 comments. So, who won? Well, I said at the time: I am thinking of an integer between 0 and 1000 (inclusive). The person who comes closest to guessing the number by midnight Eastern time Friday,…

Oh, you're just being generous because you've had a hat tipped in your direction. As the author is in England, he probably deposited 3 pints of rainwater in your lap.

Great comic. Thanks for the link.

Clearly you just don't understand the theology involved. An awful lot of work went into studying that nonexistent deity, and you'd have to read it all before you become able to comment on any of it.

Anyone else find it funny to see the words "Caledonian on I am too capable of surrendering gracefully" on the sidebar?

I rather like the "Thank you for not provoking my uncontrollable lust" shirt.

He needs to hire an artist though. The content's too good for the mspaint artwork.

A better artist would get him killed......see comment #4.

Question. What is that phallus looking thing in that cartoon?

pdiddysl: It's a beer tap.

An answer for pdiddysl:
It's a semaphore for a metaphore.

ac, that's not actually Mohammed. It's a body double, check way back in the archives.

ac said: Aren't cartoons about Mohamed a taboo now?

It's alright, Mo is a body double.

I stopped reading Kleiman's latest when he started blithering that the Bohr model of the atom is a theory that "no one believes in" anymore.

The man can't actually be this stupid -- I've seen y'all explain patiently to him that science isn't about "belief", very slowly and in all caps.

Thus Kleiman must be a deliberately obtuse, contumacious wanker.

The truly sad part of all this is that Robert Ingersoll shot this crap down 140 years ago (only then the sophisticated theists were going on about how the Devil was a personification of evil). See Ingersoll's "The Devil".

Never! We will fight them in the comments, we will fight them in the forums. We will fight them in the blogs, and on MySpace, and on Facebook. We will never surrender.

Unless of course we are shown to be wrong on some point. Then, graceful apologies for everyone and an appropriate retreat.

The three Abrahamic religions get it thoroughly and entertainingly stuck to them in a seven minute monologue in the BBC Radio 4 Now Show here. It's about 20 minutes in, and if you want every sacred cow pushed off a cliff on primetime mainstream radio, go listen.
