I'm #23?

I already mentioned that I'm not a big fan of traffic rankings for blogs, but despite the focus on traffic numbers, this is at least a subjectively filtered list of popular liberal/progressive blogs. The ranking isn't as interesting as the fact that it's a good list of politically copacetic blogs.

I also see that all I have to do is increase my traffic 10 or 20 fold to catch up with Daily Kos!

This graph shows what two links from Daily Kos and one link from Instapundit in the span of two days can do for your blog traffic. For those of you who don't know, Daily Kos is a high-traffic politically liberal team-written blog, whereas Instapundit is a high-traffic politically conservative…
A while ago, I described how I feel estranged from the internet Progressives: Bloggers like Kos constantly remind people that the lefty blogosphere isn't liberal (sounds kinda like the DLC doesn't it?). Actually to say that the internet progressives don't stand for much of anything is unfair. It's…
All you have to do is look at their official state party platforms. The platforms are typically wish lists forged at multiple levels: I've been involved a little bit with our local Minnesota DFL, and anyone can show up and propose an addition to the party platform, which means you've usually got a…
Every now and again I'm surprised by the contrast between the sanity that you'll find on good blogs, and the madness that reigns in our useless press. In this case, its dead children again which is very sad, but should not be used as entertainment schlock-horror fodder as our gutter press does.…

You should see that screen on my computer. All the top 100 links are unvisited -- except Pharyngula.

Way to go, PZ.

I hate rankings too, and consider them worthless menaces.
Mostly because when you google for "cuttlefish", my site ranks below Answers in Genesis.

:-(

I like the name firedoglake. Maybe zebrafishpond. Yours and Phil Plait's are the only ones highlighted on this college PC.

Were this the blog of just about anyone else (with the possible of exception of the Hat I'd have assumed the "Word of the Day" was "copacetic".

Most of Daily Kos' traffic comes from Reddit and Digg.

If you want to catch up with them, you have to make Reddit an Digg-friendly articles. Not sure it'd be worth it. :P

Daily Kos is too much politics and not enough substance.
The humor here is enough to make Pharyngula a better read each day.
