More like this

Tomorrow morning I leave for that conference. One last thing before I go... Some of you will know that I am a close personal chum of Mark Witton: pterosaur worker, expert illustrator, meeter of David Attenborough and all round good egg. Mark's astronomical rise to fame is due, not to his visit to…
I'll get to El Jefe Maximo in a moment, but to dive into even more trivial waters, the thing I've never understood about the whole Paris Hilton affair is how utterly stupid she was. Her personal stupidity doesn't shock me--it's a miracle she doesn't forget how to breathe. But rich people can hire…
Yesterday's unexpectedly intense monsoon storms brought several inches of rain and flash floods to Tucson.  Many of our desert ants cue their mating flights with the onset of the summer rains, and this morning the Forelius were flying, congregating in dense swarms that twirled and twisted above…
The blogging conference in North Carolina--not to be confused with a flogging conference or a logging conference or a jogging conference--is over and I just wanted to share some reviews (due to the nature of the beast, it's been blogged left, right, and center). Check out these links:…

PZ and the seven cephalopods ?
Snuggly, Squirty, Beaky, Inky, Brainy, Camouflagey and Overlord

Hard to believe they're in the same phylum as clams. Unlike clams, it seems to me they probably really can be happy. At least that guy has a contented look.

"At least that guy has a contented look."

You think he looks contented? I'm getting a "turn that camera off, I'm trying to sleep here" impression.

On a serious note, can anyone tell me if there is there any point in majoring in genetics? or should i stick with biochemistry?

Crash a Norwegian Poll!

Dagbladet.no has an article about a Norwegian "Healer" called "Snåsamannen" (The Man from Snåsa). Recently, a book about the old man was released, and its sold 90000 copies, and thats ALOT in Norway (we have a population of 4.7 million)

Anyway the question is: Whats happening (when he "heals")?

X- Placebo-effect
X- Genuine Healing
X- Superstition
X- Trickery
http://www.dagbladet.no/2008/12/19/nyheter/innenriks/helse/test/4084511/

The poll is in the middle somewhere, and the button Stem! means Vote!

Crash away!

Man, I can't believe I spelled Cthulhu incorrectly

one spot further back in the line to be eaten for you.

The Ceph pics are usually awesome, but this one is a little disturbing to me... it looks like a scrotum with eyes...

(But then, I got shot in the head last week and I really shouldn't be out of bed)

I can has more upside-down snacks please.
