An anonymous contributor, signing himself "An Opinionated Englishman", took umbrage at some passing mention of Lipton tea that I made a while back, and sent me a couple of boxes of genuine English tea from some place called Whittard of Chelsea.
Whoa. There really is a huge difference.
This is terrible. I can never go back to drinking the domestic stuff now, and am going to have to go looking for a local source of imported teas. Darned snooty Englishmen, waking me up to reality. How dare they?

CHAI RANT!!!11!!
It is time for another Chai Rant.
Years ago, about the twentieth word I learned in KiSwahili was "chai" ... which, if you know Kiswahili you would immediately recognize as a borrowed term becasue it is a very unlikely set of phonemes for that language. In KiSwahili, Chai means tea…
March is women's history month, but don't let that circumscribe your fun. You can get together with a posse of your like-minded women friends and mock mansplainers anytime. Now, I know many of you have just recently learned that there even existed a name you could attach to this annoying behavior…
After writing this post, I came across Alex's obituary and guestbook on Legacy.com. By all accounts, Alex was a great kid - loved and admired by many - an accomplished hockey player and musician with a love for the mountains. This could have been you or I, or worse, one of our own children.…
Have any of you started a project that you thought would take ten minutes to complete, only to find that the project has morphed into a huge and tangled event that has taken over your entire life? I am trapped in the middle of such a project right now.

It's encouraging to see people so excited about tea. There is really a huge difference between great tea and mediocre tea. All of you all may be interested in a tea website I've been working on for some time:
http://ratetea.net
Not only does it have user-generated ratings and reviews, but it has a lot of information on varieties of tea, tea-producing regions, and some health information. I've made an effort to identify the sources of the information and cite scientific studies published in peer-reviewed journals when possible.
Hopefully, people interested in getting more into tea, learning about tea, and locating high-quality teas will find this site very useful! Enjoy!
