Heh. Reminds me of this news story I saw the other day: Lustful snakes too hot to handle (though this was only an intimate couple, much more decorous).
"While being captured, while rattling around in a car, picking the bag back up, opening it up at work, nothing seemed to disturb these guys whatsoever."
Odonata>
The first was unbearably awful (and part of a double at a drive-in), so I never even considered watching the second.
Glad to see some herps for once... Love 'em.
Agree with Tim.
Why is the commentary on NG so pathetic?
This film is great, but the dipstick commenting sounds like someone from - FuckedNews or -Network?
Sadly, the NG Channel commentary is mostly as crappy as here.
What is wrong the NG's commentary? Really! It's embaressing.
It might be a cultural thing - but to me (a Brit) - this just sounds patronising. How about a bit of David Attenborough instead?
Great footage though. Have to wonder why god would have "designed" and made that little appendage thing? Suppose they could come up with a reason - or maybe it's another one of those mysteries!
Best look at the vestigial (=/= nonfunctional!) hindlimbs of boids I've ever seen.
In complete agreement about the flip, insipid voice-over. Dude's like the Anti-attenborough. Ought to be narrating tail-chasing dogs and dudes getting hit in the nuts.
Does anyone know if pheromone traps are being used to capture invasive Burmese Pythons in the Florida Everglades?
They are not, becuase we have no idea what the "pheromones" are, or even whether it's really "pheromones" the males are smelling.
They look upside down. Did you notice they have rosettes on their undersides but the upper body is just brown? Why would the camoflage pattern be underneath? Although the brown blends nicely with the mud.

Video of a young anaconda I took while it was in a friends collection. He looks very laid back there, but if the acrylic window wasn't there he'd have been attached to my face. :) There was a larger female on the premises who was much more docile than him.
Awful, awful narrators. I thought it was only that one narrator, but it seems like they're all like that at Nat Geo (they must think people enjoy that, but what made them think that is beyond me).
Blimey - a bit early for p0rn don't ya think?
I know quite a few females that can 'accommodate' up to 12 males!

Quoth reptile handler Justin Rutherford.
Orgy? Orgy?
..Oh sorry, I thought we were organising January's OM initiation.
With the title "Snake Orgy" my pre-coffee brain read the category as...well something other than "organisms". Good morning to you!
What a brain-dead commentary.
"You wouldn't want to meet one in a dark alley..."
Seriously.
Thinking about anacondas, has anyone seen Anaconda or Anacondas: The Hunt for the Blood Orchid?

Even with all that gang-banging, the female still manages to be quieter than most primates.
Serious question. Does anyone know if pheromone traps are being used to capture invasive Burmese Pythons in the Florida Everglades?
PZ: Where did you go drinking in Davis? You did go drinking, right? RIGHT?!?!

But Coyne scooped Myers on the cephalopod!

Silly commentary, cheesy music.

test
Fred> From what I can tell, pheromone traps are being tested but not fully employed...
National Park Service Link
Believe me, "scientists are investigating a chemical attrtactant" is a long way in reality from even testing a pheromone-baited trap.
She just looks so attractive lying in the mud there, having such a phallic shape.
It does go without saying that sexual attraction doesn't translate well, but I wanted to say it anyway.

They say that snake porn keeps ratcheting up in its intensity. I guess keeping the interest of wildlife photographers is tough work. Poor girl!
What a whore, what would her mother say?
@22
Ssssssssslut?
oh I liked Anaconda the movie. SHould be more snake films...but after Snakes on a Plane(the pinnacle) I think its all down hill.
My anaconda don't want none unless you got buns, hon...
Hey, somebody had to say it.
You remember when you hisssssed me "where did I come from?" Well, itsss likessss thissssss…
A friend of mine was credited as the scientific advisor for Anaconda. Not sure how he feels about that.
See comment 15.
Also, the last sentence made me smile, but she's probably just moulting...

Obligatory "I have had it with these fucking snakes on this fucking thread!"
How can it be an orgy if they have only one female?

Shows clearly that atheist are vile and depraved beings of no moral standing!
(should be read in a deep, fatherly voice, sounding very "moral")
Thiii hiiii
I'm vile and depraved...
I'm surprised nobody's pointed out the "Huge Dead Snake" video yet (take your heart pill first): http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6vfBxxrnViU
