As noted by Lance, the new journal ACM Transactions on Computation Theory is now accepting papers. Note for quantum computing theorists: ACM Transactions on Computation Theory will cover theoretical computer science complementing the scope of the ACM Transactions on Algorithms and the ACM…
"The miracle of the appropriateness of the language of mathematics for the formulation of the laws of physics is a wonderful gift which we neither understand nor deserve." - E. P. Wigner Our universe, or at least our understanding of the universe, appears to allow us to see its naked underbelly…
In which I steal an analogy from Joe Emerson to explain the limits of quantum computing. ------------ As previously noted, a couple of weeks ago I went to Canada for the opening of the University of Waterloo's new Quantum Nano Center (their photo gallery includes one picture of me being interviewed…
Some time back, I wrote about what you need to make a quantum computer. Given that it's election season, I thought I'd revisit the topic by looking in detail at the candidate technologies for quantum computing. The first up is Ion Trap Quantum Computing, probably the most well-established of any of…

You know what this means though? The thing to really do is economics and quantum.

For instance, I (sincerely) wish that some quantum-computing person would review this book and, in particular, see if there's some sort of exotic derivative that can be priced more efficiently if you have a quantum computer.

Oh, I have that book! I could review the quantum, but not so sure about the finance :)

This is probably as good a place as any for this question. Do you ever think of how to use quantum algorithms to solve poker problems?
