Here's something I'm interested to know, and would greatly appreciate responses, either here or via email. It may have been blogged about somewhere, but I haven't come across it in the blogosphere.

To any experimentalists: What made you want to become an experimentalist? When did you first 'know'? Was it something you read? Was it an experiment you did? Was it something else?

To any theorists: Same question - what made you want to become a theorist? Something you read? Does theory just appeal to you more? Something else?

I just finished a lab midterm that involved a lot of waiting, where the TA encouraged us to draw pictures of dinosaurs and such. And I delivers. I hope she reads xkcd and watches the Colbert Report, else I going to do some explaining.

A friend of my father, a math professor, once grade a test marked on every page with "please turn page" & ended with "see you next year".
