Why I love New England:

That's the maple tree on the line between our house and the neighbors'. It's always one of the first trees to turn, and it's always spectacular when it does.

It's particularly striking when Emmy and I set off for our morning walk and the back yard is still in shadow, but like most things involving cool lighting effects, it's hard to get a picture of:

This is about the best I've been able to do with it. It's much more impressive in person.

Um, Niskayuna isn't in New England. While New York is a lot like New England in most areas, you don't want to confuse the two, especially around the wrong sort of people. Both sides of the border can be a little sensitive about such things. ;)

High dynamic range photography could probably do justice to that second picture. The current version of photoshop even comes standard with a plugin to do it.
