Aussie, Aussie, Aussie. Oy.

A News of the Stupid story that's too good to pass up. I mean, how can you not click on a headline like "Men Accused of Wrestling Python Outside McDonald's":

MELBOURNE, Australia (AP) -- Two men were arrested after bewildered diners at a McDonald's spotted them wrestling a 5-foot (1.5 meter) python named Boris in the restaurant parking lot, police said Thursday. Victoria state police said the men stole the 8-year-old black-headed python and a lizard from a pet shop on Wednesday. They then brought the snake to the McDonald's parking lot, where they began wrestling with it in front of puzzled customers, police said.

The men, aged 22 and 24, were arrested and charged with burglary and theft. Police didn't release their names.

''In all honesty, it's just a case of dumb and dumber,'' Detective Sgt. Andrew Beams told Australian Broadcasting Corp. ''Anyone who gets out there with a one-and-a-half meter python in a McDonald's car park -- they're pretty dumb.''

Yeah, it's a frivolous blog post. But then, if conversation on the Internet is going to be dominated by idiotic people doing idiotic things, as it has been, we might as well talk about amusing idiocy. I just hope these are really Australian idiots, and not Americans who stuck around after Worldcon...

Little kids love McDonald's: Hamburgers, french fries, chicken nuggets, and even milk and carrots all taste better to children if they think they came from McDonald's, a small study suggests.
McDonald's is everywhere, of course. But it's not completely cookie cutter; only about 99.9% so. For example, the McDonald's at the Heidelberg train station I used to frequent when I felt unbearably homesick in Germany had beer on tap - something you don't see in the U.S!
I haven't given much credence to the hype about internet child predators. But now it turns out the predators are really there, we know there names, and they even live in our neighborhoods, although they haven't registered anywhere except the phonebook:

Burglary and theft? No animal cruelty charges?

I would pay money to see Kim Stanley Robinson wrestle a python....

Oh I can well believe they're home grown idiots .......

Unfortunately.

There are a lot of idiots in the United States because there are a lot of people in the United States, and Sturgeon's Revelation applies. Australia has fewer people, and hence fewer morons.
