doing just about anything than writing multiple choice questions and grading a last set of assignments. Especially, because there's been a number of intriguing articles that have come across my virtual desk in the past week or so, and I'd really like to blog about some of them.

So I just will. But which one to blog about? I'll ask you.

Take a look at the following movie (quicktime required). The movie will alternately flash a picture of a desk and a patterned block. Your job is to see if anything about the picture of the desk changes each time it flashes.

Have you seen the article by Amber Budden and others in Trends in Ecology and Evolution (I think the November issue) analyzing the effect of anonymous reviewing on publication rates by women. There appears to be growing evidence of unconscious bias making career advancement in science more difficult for women. Thus, anonymous reviewing leads to an increase in the fraction of female authors! Would be a great blog topic.

Guppygeek, that sounds like a great article. I'll have to take a look at it.

There was also a study I saw recently on wording of tenure criteria and the tenure success rate of women on medical school faculties.
