August 6, 2001, is the day that George W. Bush received the Presidential Daily Brief headlined, "Bin Laden determined to strike in U.S." The PDB stated that Al Qaeda maintained a support structure in the U.S. that could aid attacks, that one idea was to hijack U.S. airplanes, and that the FBI had detected "suspicious activity," including surveillance of federal buildings in New York. The memo also noted that the U.S. Embassy in the United Arab Emirates had received a warning that Al Qaeda was preparing an attack in the U.S. with explosives.

On August 6, 2001, Bush was at his ranch in the middle of a 32-day vacation, at the time the longest presidential vacation since 1969.

On August 6, 2001, Bush built a trail on his ranch and talked to Condi Rice about Macedonia.

On September 11 2001, Bin Laden struck. Macedonia is - as yet - not a problem. I'm sure the trail is nice.

Via ThinkProgress, which watches CNN so you don't have to, Holocaust-trivializer and Expelled frontman Ben Stein and conservative radio host Larry Elder discuss 9/11: Ben Stein's comments around 1:20 are the least sensible from the entire clip, and that's saying quite a bit. Elder's claim is that…
I can't say I've ever understood the adulation Noam Chomsky gets in some lefty circles. His arguments are generally fairly banal, drifting into a caricature of liberalism.. I don't doubt that at some point in his life he may have been an incisive political commentator, but I've never seen it.…

And he's now being applauded for only taking 1.5 wks this summer.

It's not just the ignorance of the 6 Aug brief, but the entire culture of unpreparedness by this administration. I believe it was in Madeline Albright's autobiography where she documented that Clinton administration attempts to brief the incoming Bush cabinet and staffers on the urgency of the Al-Qaida threat were met with lack of concern or understanding.

You got to be joking me. Who cares how many days that monkey takes as vacation. I hope he takes a permanent vacation. Lives a long happy life eating bananas.

Unfortunately even if he takes a vacation the people pulling his strings will still go about destroying the world.

Isreal will keep bombing Lebanon back to the stone ages. American liberties and rights will be erroded by more legilation. The right to protest will be revoked. Public freedom of speach will be used to target the new "terrorists." Because those who are not with us are "terrorists."

Spend some time go have a nice ice cream. Take a vacation and a walk. Soon you won't have the oportunity.
