Over at PseudoPolymath, Mark Olson has what I regard as a very oddly reasoned post about the meaning of liberty in the Declaration of Independence.

A friend sent me a link to this article in Newsweek about Jerry Falwell's Liberty University being the #1 debate team in the nation, knowing that I know the debate world pretty well and would find it interesting.
And, my memory fails me here, but was it "Brave New World" or "1984" in which there was a never-ending war used as an excuse by the government for similar control of civil liberties?

It's stuff like this that adds credibility to rumors like the Bush quote about the Constitution being just a piece of paper. Of course, he could not do it without the complicity of the Crawlers in Congress.
