The grand SICB roundup

Apologies for being MIA over the past day - the hotel's wifi was acting up and I basically decided to go a day without connectivity. I'm now happily at home after thoroughly enjoying my SICB experience - science, beer, and discussion makes for a good four days. I'll hopefully get some more SICB-inspired posts up over the next few days.

Special thanks have to go to Jim and Kat Lippard for putting up with us last night. We had a wonderful evening of discussion and I got to meet Brent Rasmussen whom I hadn't even realized was living nearby. The above photo is of (left to right) Jim, Brent, GrrlScientist, PZ, and I, all looking very relaxed. Both PZ and Brent riff
about the evening on their respective blogs, though I will note that, since Brent describes me as a "pretty cool Prof", I will now be hiring him to handle all my publicity!

More like this

By popular request. Comments from Brent and folks arguing with him are cluttering up more useful discussions. All comments by Brent and responses to comments by Brent should go in this thread. I can't move comments in MT, so I'll just delete comments that appear in the wrong thread.
I completely forgot to post a Happy Darwin Day message on Saturday. Charles Darwin was born on February 12, 1809. That was also the same day that Abraham Lincoln was born (though there is some dispute over that, I guess).
Hot on the heels of the first Orac-free Skeptics' Circle in two years, amazingly, another Skeptics' Circle is coming around the pike far faster than I would have

Should I explain to everyone that the reason you're leaning in towards me is nothing personal, it's just that appeasers lack a spine?

Heh! I thought I was just being drawn to your magnetic personality.

A science posse, pretty cool.
