Hi all...just wanted to let you know that I am planning to do the first post for Chapter 2 of The Gender Knot sometime next week, probably mid-week. I have the new edition of the book and have been reading but there's a lot of stuff going on with mine and Mr. Z's family this week. I hope to do a few posts on other topics in the meantime, but we will be back with the Gender Knot next week. Meanwhile. there are still some pretty active discussions on the last few posts. Thanks to my readers for such intense conversation.

There are inevitably plenty of typos, but after the jump I've pasted in the transcript of my Science Friday conversation with NPR's Ira Flatow about hurricanes and global warming. Callers raised several interesting questions.
Enjoy.

So, now that you have a better idea how great it was last year, are you coming to ConvergeSouth this year? On October 14th (yup, one day instead of two). Last year was about journalism and blogging. This year, the theme is "beyond blogging", both technologically (podcasting, vlogging) and…
Well, it's Wednesday, and so far I've done two posts--and gotten more than 170 comments--in the new "framing science" dialogue that I've sought to begin here. Let's briefly recap, so that I can then explain how I'll be moving forward. Meanwhile, Sheril wants to start weighing in, so expect her to…
So that's chapter 2 in the new edition, which is what chapter in the old edition?
I believe it's chapter four.
Looking forward to it, Zuska ... I finally received my copy of The Gender Knot, and just started reading Chapter 2 this week.
As an aside, I admire your eloquence and patience in addressing a recent "what about the menz?" post from the one of many white male bloggers that Seed seems to favor. It would make my head explode - honestly, can they really be surprised by patriarchocentric output, from an author whose blog profile photo features himself wearing a Captain America suit and wielding a large phallus simulacrum? And that he uses terms such as "knocked up" to describe pregnant women? (Yes, I read the post and comments, but I refuse to leave a comment with e-mail address available to the blogger in question).
Thanks, Barn Owl. If you liked my earlier comments on that really agitating post you may really enjoy this one.
