Why France beat Brazil

This is so funny. A series of photos of the winning goal in the France-Brazil game. Poor Roberto Carlos, I guess that's why he retired.

BTW - Germany-Portugal is shaping up to be a good game. It's 2-0 right now, but it would be 4-0 if not for the Portuguese goalie, Ricardo.

Update: Schweinsteiger, GOOOAAALLLAAAZZZZZZOOOO! A hat-trick for the man with the great name!

More like this

France vs Italy eh, could be good, could be not good... Italy did well to hold off Germany, their defence+goalie look invulnerable. They're good on the counter, but the first goal looked like a defensive error by the Germans, looked like someone missed their assignment. Only saw the last few (and…
Baseball's World Series is played over the best of seven games. The first two games are played at the home field of one team (we will call this one team A), the next three at the home field of team B, and the last two at the home field of team A. Given that teams are more…
It was a lazy Sunday in Chateau Steelypips, what with the party Saturday afternoon, so I watched a fair amount of soccer. I saw nearly all of the England-Ecuador game, and the second half of the Portugal-Netherlands game. This has made something clear to me: The most difficult thing to find in…
OK I know, I'm usually good about keeping my blog focused on Science, Biology etc... There has been quite an interesting debate going on at several blogs/sites about peer review and challenges to the conventional methods of publishing. But for those Soccer Maniacs (or Futbolistas) here's my take…

Slightly embarrassing for Carlos!

And Germany wins! Three very nice goals (if you ignore the own goal) and a good game. Here's hoping tomorrow is as good.

Prediction - 1:0 for France.

Yes a nice finish for Germany. And I guess Schweinsteiger's free kick was deflected by Petit for an OG. Too bad, a hat-trick would have been nice.

As for the final, I predict 2-1 for Italy (I know it's a high score for these two teams ... but I'd like Zidane to net one ...)

2-1 France -- Zidane and Ribery.

Still on Roberto Carlos: reporters who were in the stadium said he was not exactly resting, he was... fixing his socks! Of course, he later denied that, but the images beg to differ.

Also: Schweinsteiger is reeeally a great name...

I'm cheering for Portugal from here on out, I love to watch Ronaldo. I don't care, can't wait for Euro 08. I'm also predicting a 2:1 Italy win with a goal by Zidane (and not one based on an Henry flop).

The original text in Portuguese was a lot funnier.
