Breathin'...

Got a grant off earlier today, so I'm unwinding a little bit tonight (before I unleash an exam upon my students tomorrow). In the meantime, I just found out an interview I did about my S. suis research back in August was in last week's JAMA.

Back with more tomorrow...

The Scientiae theme for September is "my summer vacation." My first week of class started today, so perhaps this is a good way to remind myself of what I've done this summer. We had dinner early in May at a friend and colleague's house to acknowledge my husband's decision to step away from his…
...and that's not just a comment on the weather here. The past few days have been packed. In addition to the work stuff, I've been gearing up for classes next week and getting my kids off to their new school year (and my son in kindergarten). It's always nice when hard work pays off, but it…
Yes, after a week off, both from work and (mostly) from blogging, I'm back. I know I promised the occasional new material, but I found that not blogging for a week was actually a good thing and thus didn't post anything new after Christmas. Even though I'm back, though, I'm taking one more day off…
To tie in with this week's Research Blogging Awards announcement, I spent an enjoyable half-hour on Monday being interviewed by Dave Munger, who organised the awards. The interview is now up on the SEED website, with a title that made me smile. In it, I talk to Dave about winning the award, why…

Yeah! That's got to feel pretty good.

Congratulations. There is nsothing quite like being recognized by your peers for high quality work.

Is the interview available without having to subscribe to JAMA?

You'd need a subscription or access through a university. It's just a pretty short description of the research I presented; I can email it to anyone without access and who'd like a copy. The other half of the story is interesting as well, describing findings examining Coxiella burnetii in raw milk.

This blog sucks. Who cares about your grant -- other than you?
