Hemiplegia is paralysis of one side of the body. It can be congenital or acquired as the result of disease or injury involving the spinal cord and/or brain. Stroke is a common cause.
Misoplegia is the hatred of paralyzed body parts in those afflicted by hemiplegia. People with misoplegia have been known to verbally or physically abuse their paralyzed parts.
As strange as that sounds, when I get me a bout of the week-long stomach flu, I'm ready to curb stomp my damn gastrointestinal tract by day two.
