The Questionable Authority: Helping People With Homework Since 2005

When people arrive at this blog via the google, it's usually because they're searching for a combination of words that doesn't produce a lot of hits. Often, it's a series of words that looks suspiciously like things that have to do with some sort of homework assignment.

Earlier tonight, someone punched "Compare and contrast between peace and War" into google.ca. The fourth item on the results list was a post from early 2007 that probably didn't help our searching student much. (Unless, of course, they were looking for an exposition of former President George W. Bush's flaws.)

It's unlikely that the student in question is going to return to this blog, but just in case they do, I thought it might be nice to do something to make the answer a little easier to find.

So, if you are looking to compare and contrast between peace and war (or war and peace), here's a starting point:

There is usually - but not always - less shooting going on in peace.

Hope that helped.

Usually the LA Times does not print things this awful.  Usually these things don't bother me so much.  The problem is not just that the author is wrong, or that he develops his argument poorly -- although both are true.  What bothers me is
There is this woman in Colorado who's being sued for displaying a peace symbol on her home—it's very weird.

It's especially amusing when the query makes the "Googling for answers to my homework" searches obvious by including the question number in the search (e.g. "3. What is the purpose of heat-fixing bacteria to the slide?")

Just yesterday someone left an almost incoherent comment on my post about the classic Kirby-Bauer antibiotic-susceptibility test paper, apparently expecting that I'd have a specific chart from a specific microbiology lab manual that I could give them a copy of.

Unless, of course, they were looking for an exposition of former President George W. Bush's flaws.

Is there enough storage space on the ScienceBlogs servers to handle a complete exposition of that type?

I don't think there's enough storage space on Google's servers to handle that.
