Hubble Bubble

Toil and Trouble

Griffin, Weiler and Mikulski are live on NASA TV right now to make the announcement on Hubble servicing mission number 4.

And the winner is...

... The Hubble Space Telescope!

Griffin has spoken and a Shuttle servicing mission will be added to the planned launches.

I'm glad, somewhat surprised, I didn't think they were going to do it.
Better have it done, then to keep dragging on a no decision.

Formal announcement should be on here in an hour or so.

Ohh, crew announcement - yes! John Grunsfeld got a slot, he was promised and he got it.

I think NASA director Mike Griffin wants to lose his job (not a good idea these days...):
Apparently, NASA administrator Mike Griffin is a complete bonehead. There's really no other way to describe his recent interactions with the Obama transition team. From an Orlando Sentinel report:
The reaction from the scientific community to NASA Administrator Michael Griffin's lack of concern over climate change is blunt. Here are some examples.
So there was this great Dilbert cartoon, where the PHB asks Dilbert to get something, and to cover his back Dilbert must get the signatures of the VP of marketing, head of finance, and Griffin. Dilbert asks, would that be Griffin of accounts, or the mythical beast?

John Grunsfeld got a slot, he was promised and he got it.

That's great! He visited ITP (pre K) while I was there and described the last servicing mission he was on. It clearly meant everything to him.

Strongly agree that the worst decision would have been continual delay and nattering; thank the FSM this decision is made.

And just one week before the election. I received a property tax refund ust a week ago.

Who, me cynical?

Well about time. I hope that the mission goes well. I hope this means many future NICMOS observations ;)

well the hubble space telescope take very useful images for the astronomers I hope they may discover some new exoplanet with life and i hope that they do a spacecraft that travels more than the speed of the light 300 times more like they are trying to do.
