I missed almost all of yesterday's football due to various social obligations.
I caught the last 50 seconds of PSU's spanking of Tennessee (QB taking a knee twice) and then late last night decided to look at OU vs BSU just to see some football.
That was the best 4th quarter of football in a long time. Since PSU vs Michigan in 2005 methinks.
OU's come back was good but gloomy, and when BSU was picked off with a minute left I thought they were done. The last second trick-play touchdown was awesome, but to go for two points immediately in overtime after OU's quick score was the gutsiest coach call ever.
And the play calling was incredible, fooled everyone.
So... since Michigan blew the opportunity to show the Big-10 is the toughest conference, not the SEC (if OSU, UoM, Wisconsin, and PSU all win their bowls, then there is really no arguing), I am no longer obliged to want OSU to win - just a matter of deciding which team I dislike more them or Florida.
But, if OSU loses, then Boise should be National Champions, and that is well earned.
So go Florida whatchamcallums! Beat OSU!

Being on east coast time, I stayed up way late to catch the end of the Fiesta Bowl but was glad I did. It's been a long time since I've seen a more amazing conclusion to a football game!
Like a true physics nerd/hardcore football fan, I checked with wikipedia after the final play to confirm that I had indeed seen my first statue of liberty play. Literally five minutes after the game had ended, the wikipedia page gave a descsription of the play, it's use as a pun in Looney Tunes cartoons, and mentioned its use in the 2007 Fiesta Bowl.
College football may bring out a stunning amount of idiocy in American culture (cough, Chief Illiniwek, cough), but holy crap can it be entertaining.
