Good news is that the east coast Whole Foods are now carrying plain skyr

Aahhh.
This is the real stuff, not the oversweetened flavoured vanilla stuff they've been pushing.

The bad news is that I bought it all.

Really, I think I cleaned out all the Whole Foods north of NYC.

BwaHaHaHaha!

I had a really nice roast leg of lamb for dinner tonight, Icelandic free range, grazed on mountain grasses. Roasted pink, with a bit of garlic and light brushing of home made marinade. Only $7.99 per pound at Whole Foods, picked it up on my last trip. We'll be eating lamb sandwiches all week.…
Winter will be here soon, I hear rumours it has already come to parts of the south and west, and it definitely arrived in Iceland. Iceland in winter requires some effort, but we have come up with some useful things to get through the winter, and I don't mean just the pickled whale blubber, rotten…
So here's what we actually ate yesterday. In addition to the list below, btw, C. and K., the new guys ate a fair number of totally non-local oranges and bananas, as well as some local apples. Because they've experienced real hunger, they have a bowl of fruit in their room that they can eat…
There are only a couple of bands I'd drive a significant distance to see live, and now I've made the trip to NYC to see two of them. I went to see the Afghan Whigs in 2014, and this past Friday, I drove to Brooklyn for a Hold Steady show. And this time, I have a cool picture as a bonus... Me with…

Okay, we need to get this stuff on the west coast already. I got a taste for it back in April, and it's been too long since I've had any.

Yeah, I wondered about that, since I was planning on eating it for breakfast in Palo Alto, and Boulder, and Chicago, but no go.

I suspect they are air freighting it, and only offering it in Whole Foods within easy 18-wheeler drive of the northeast airports.
Most annoying, I estimate I ate about 5000 skyr as a child, I could do with more.
Have to do something about that.

FYI, I'm now addicted to this ... local Whole Foods is carrying it, and I remembered your description, so I decided to give it a whirl. It's my standard afternoon snack after my 5 mile bike ride home.

Eating plain right now. A bit bland on its own, but with some blueberries mixed in ... mmmm.

Yeah, the Vikings clearly had it easy.
