spidersense vs the Force

a physicist, an engineer and a lawyer were chatting at a social event, when the Big Question came up

Peter Parker vs Luke Skywalker - who would win?

this is a tricky one, even if I tend to subscribe to the theory that spidey is a major underachiever who rarely lives up to his full potential, as if Luke ever does either...

Clearly webbing vs lightsabre is no contest - give that one to Luke

on the other hand, spidersense vs the Force, I would go with spidersense

now superhuman strength is a winner, but spidey is a loner whereas Luke has all the Jedi supposedly backing him up...
so I give it to Spidey, since a) the Jedi are almost all dead, and b) their tactical sense was beyond moronic

You doubt?

Ok, consider this: Green Goblin vs Imperial Stormtroopers?

QED.

Oh, and MJ over Leia, anytime, and do not try to bring up the opening of RotJ

It was high times for the Rebel Alliance at the end of Return of the Jedi (1983). Across the galaxy, crowds rejoiced at the destruction of the second Death Star and the apparent defeat of Emperor Palpatine. Princess Leia Organa, who two films earlier had seen her home planet exploded for sport, was…
Steinn over at The Dynamics of Cats brought my attention to an interesting topic intially broached over at Bitch PhD. That issue is a little pet peeve of mine: the representation of women in media, advertising, and entertainment. Specifically, guest blogger No_Nym asks: Am I the only one who thinks…
Here's a bonus bit of analysis from last week's Casual Fridays study. In addition to asking respondents how familiar they were with our selection of stories, we also asked them to describe some detail of the story that was independently verifiable, like how the story ended. The reason we did this…
Last week's guess-the-number contest for my spare copy of Massive by Ian Sample generated over 150 comments. So, who won? Well, I said at the time: I am thinking of an integer between 0 and 1000 (inclusive). The person who comes closest to guessing the number by midnight Eastern time Friday,…

Boba Fett still managed to entangle Luke in RoTJ, so I wouldn't give the clear victory to the lightsaber either. Only way Luke would win that fight would be if you grabbed him from a novel uch further down the timeline, when he's a full Jedi Master.

Of course, that's Schoolyard logic. Real answer would be a tie, because they're both good guys, and comic book crossover fights are almost always a draw. Or called on account of Greater Evil.

If Spidey could web Luke before he could use the saber, or isolate his arm with the saber in a position where he couldn't cut the web, he could do it easily. With Luke's Force powers of TK and Mind Control, well, Spidey has fought telekinetics and telepaths as well, so having them combined with a sword-wielder probably isn't too bad. Shoot, Spidey has taken on the Hulk (and Venom, Carnage, and a lot of others) who make a jedi look tame.

Spidey, easily.

Missed the schoolyard logic bit in the comments. The appropriate cliche is the "heroes fight each other, then become friends and take out their combined enemy(-ies). They would fight, Spidey would win, then the truth would come out. Besides, I am not sure Luke would be fighting all out, since the saber is a killing-only tool, while Spideys attacks can largely be non-lethal, so he could go more all-out than Luke.

Hmm - a threat to Luke's children, or Leia...time warp to bring Spidey....sounds like a crossover, probably a miniseries. The Star Wars comics are popular. Of course, if we wanted people with more selling power than Spidey, probably Wolverine or Batman would be better (Wolverine, since he seems to be in every comic Marvel writes these days, while Batman has more cartoons and movies to his credit than Spidey, even if a few were not too good).

I think the best way to get the advantage on Luke Skywalker would be to psych him out with a discussion of incest.

Spidey vs Gen Grievous would not be much of a contest, but arguably might be entertaining.
Now Spidey vs Yoda I might pay to see...

Spidey vs Windu would be amusing in the same way Spidey vs Wolverine is,
I like Windu but he doesn't have the sense of humour needed to conquer Spiderman.

On the other hand, a full cross-over: Spidey vs Yoda, Wolverine vs Windu etc that'd be interesting in some not entirely deep intellectual ways.
