PS: enough accumulation on elevated and "soft" surfaces to make, and throw, the first snowball of the season. Yay!
More snow expected, though I am skeptical of claims of accumulations of up to a foot over the weekend.
Roads are a mess - slush and wet leaves.

You are wise to hope that you don't get a big accumulation this early in the season. With leaves still on the trees, that would mean lots of downed limbs, leading to widespread power outages.

Too late.
Got 4-6" so far - trees and limbs down all over the town.
Power out, schools closed and things a mess.
Still snowing.
Walking in was like going across a battlefield - cracks and booms all around, with debris raining down all around.
At least the transformers have stopped popping - pole with main line went down...

50,000 people coming into town tonight for the game tomorrow.
Could get interesting.
