Maria Farell asks about ipod alternatives. I have an Iriver H120 which I'm very fond of. The only drawback to Iriver is that while their hardware is better than Apple's, their firmware leaves something to be desired. But you can use Rockbox, an open source replacement which is much better.

OK, fine.
1. Total volume of music on my pc: About 12Gb---all of my CDs and LPs converted to Ogg. This is just a back up, since I just play the songs on my Iriver player.
I read Christmas: A Candid History walking home last night. It's a small compact book so walking and reading works well. In any case, there was some surprising information here.
Note though that Rockbox only works with older iRiver models. It doesn't currently work with the H10, which is the only HD player iRiver currently sells (at least in the US).
Given that the manufacture, distribution, marketing etc. of these unecessary products contribute to global warming, I choose not to use them.
On a semi-serious note, people with their ipods remind me of this.
"On a semi-serious note, people with their ipods remind me of this."
For me, it always reminds me of the Stones back when: "They got earphoned heads they got dirty necks, they're so twentieth century".
Ps that "contribute to global warming" crack was funny.
heh, yeah.
I bought an ipod nanno a few months ago, but had to return it after a week. The clickwheel technology is great, if you are using the ipod in your office, etc, but useless if you try to adjust a setting while bike riding. Replaced it with a Sandisk model which was cheaper and has actual buttons!
