It was bound to happen sooner or later: I finally broke someone.
Last Thursday, we admitted an 84-year old lady with bad disease of her kidneys and their vasculature. Her kidneys were too sick to make urine, making her a good candidate for hemodialysis. (In hemodialysis, a patient's blood is…
I have a secret crush on one of my patients, an 85-year old man who's recovering from a bad pneumonia. After a weeklong stay in the intensive care unit, he has recovered at a remarkable pace: the day after he was extubated, he was out of bed with a physical therapist, making his way slowly around…
Guest Blog: Why Is Quantum Gravity So Hard? And Why Did Stalin Execute the Man Who Pioneered the Subject?
In fact, the field of quantum gravity was born in 1916, even before physicists had properly explained the other fundamental forces, electromagnetism and the nuclear forces. Twenty years later…
Somehow I don't think any cosmetics company today could get away with doing an experiment like this to prove how well its cold cream cleans the most dirt and makeup residue from a model's skin.
I'd also really love a copy of the "Atomic Test Booklet" that people could mail the company to request…
Wow,
Like nobody else has ever had the same experience! Tim you are unbelievable.
Congratulations Tim.
Now back to reality - the Murray River soon to be in flood again. As per my earlier predictions. :-)
So much for 'global warming' and 'never ending droughts'... :-)
Hasn't all this happened before ? ;-)
That look in her eyes says "Do NOT take the cake!".
I hope you heard the subtext...
:-)
Congratulations.
Tim, congratulations to both of you on your Silver Anniversary.
Cheers

Many congratulations, Tim!
Congrats Tim!
What an achievement and a gift!
Been there, done that (in May, in Sydney). Congrats!
Congratulations to you both :)
Things look a little tense in that picture, but don't worry about it. All marriages have fluctuations. They're caused by the sun.
Congratulations.
Is it a cake or a scone? Were you kneeeling before it or your bride?
I understand your wife may-not-be-from-God's-own-country so did she understand what you were handing to her?
Somehow I had always imagined Aussie women were taller...
Many happy returns, Tim.
You, on the other hand. . .
They keep us around to play the Dorian Gray part, but otherwise it is great fun. Congratulations.
Awww. Silver anniversary and all. I trust you bought her jewelry.
Is this some strange Aussie wedding tradition I'm unaware of?
Congrats Tim and Carmen!
Congratulations to the happy couple.
Twenty-five years, and you still knew where to find your wedding pics? Damn, I am impressed!
chek, any man would love a woman who melts in his arms...
:-)
congrats from your friends and blog fans in Canada!
Congrats to you and the missus, Tim. Here's to another 25.
Well done, Tim! I'm only 23 years behind... :) Congratulations to you both.
You lucky, lucky man. Congratulations.
Congratulations!
The picture calls for a Funny Caption Contest...
Congratulations Tim, I'm sure she thinks you're adorable too... :)
Congratulations on your anniversary.
Congrats Tim. Second honeymoon?? (Am still talking my wife into New Zealand. She wants Paris ;)
Dan
Well humpfh! I could sweep my hair over my forehead way back then too. :)
Congrats!
Congratulations to both of you!
Ditto to all the above. And a heartfelt thanks to both of you from me for extracting the time from partnership which is necessary for Tim to provide this vitally important service.
Awwwww!
Global warming claims another victim.
Er, I mean, congratulations!
Congratulations Tim & Carmen. I think can still get down on bended knee before my beloved...but it's a lot harder getting up afterwards. Slainte.
Hi!
Thanks for all the warm wishes! Just so you know why the photographer posed us this way:
This was before the dinner and I was starving, so Tim arranged to give me a bread roll because he knows that I turn into a dangerous beast if I'm not regularly fed. Afterwards I turned into a sweet bride again.
And yes, I also think Tim is still cute after all these years.
Best wishes
Carmen
A bread role! A bread role! Not a scone!
Why have Tim and Carmen hidden this raw data from the science community all these years!!!!!
Congratulations!
Hah, Carmen, you look like you're about to strike! Great photo, 25 years is a long time. My wife and I are up to 10.
I enjoyed this, and all the comments too. Cheers,
Congrats Tim & Carmen. Oh, and Carmen, there's no accounting for taste.........just kidding.
The 31st was my 8th, hope y'all enjoyed yours 3 times as much as we did!
Congrats, Carmen and Tim! Here's looking forward to many more posts, er, years. :)
Gee, mine's next year but I would have my doubts about getting to 26 if I put a photo like that up on the internet! Congratulation to you both. It says a lot that you can get away with it.
Congratulations. Great photo
That is such a sweet photo. And you both look so young. Congratulations on 25 years. These days it's quite an achievement.
Congratulations!
It is nice to see that romance is not dead. Congrats, Tim. I bet this is your wife's favorite post this year. :)
Congratulations and I assume it has been all that worrying over non-existent AGW that brought about the hair loss!
As someone who's just passed 21 years legally hitched on the 2nd (or was it the 3rd ;-) of this month, all I'll say is that until you've gathered in the region of 30 years' data (according to the WMO -- the World Marriage Organization), it is just not possible to come to a definitive conclusion one way or another on whether the little storms that spring up en route are just noise about a happy medium to be weathered or indicative of a major shift in the status quo.
Hm, interesting topic for my first post here.
Congratulations to you both and may you both be hale and healthy to celebrate your Golden Anniversary as well.
Congratulations to you both, and many more.
