The National Girls Collaborative Project, as you might guess from the title, focuses on helping girls and engaging girls in science, technology, engineering, and math (aka "STEM").

Quoting from the NGCP website, (the emphasis is mine):
Numerous programs and initiatives seek to create gender equity in the areas of science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM) have been implemented only to lose effectiveness or fade away. Had these programs had the benefit of collaboration with other girl-serving projects, organizations and institutions, and tools to assess and evaluate the impact of their efforts, their capacity for continuation and/or broader impact could have been substantially increased.
The idea behind NGCP is to support educational outreach programs across the country by helping the programs share what they've learned and make connections with each other.
It's a powerful idea and NGCP has gotten many parts of the country involved. If you click the map, you'll get links to the individual regions and their projects.
NGCP has also compiled an on-line directory of programs across the country that focus on motivating girls to pursue STEM careers.
If you're interested in volunteering, check out the directory. It's a great place to start.
