Freethinker Sunday Sermonette: because ownership is nine-tenths of the law

Now is the time to look anew at who they own:

More like this

Managers of Russia's new media have informed their journalists that from now on 50% of the news must be positive: At their first meeting with journalists since taking over Russia's largest independent radio news network, the managers had startling news of their own: from now on, they said, at least…
This week I have one more problem from Milan Vukcevich for you. This one was published in Chess Life magazine in 1986. It later won first prize in the tourney. It caught my eye when the award was published, and it was one of the problems that got me interested in composing in the first place.…
This has been all over my inbox since the press release came out yesterday; it's been on slashdot (thanks Brian), it's been at space.com, and there's a mediocre writeup on Universe Today. What's the big news? Black Holes don't destroy information after all! What is this whole information thing,…
It seems like only yesterday we got to 10,000 comments and now John Mashey has posted the 50,000th comment, with more content than most blog posts. And here's his acceptance speech: Thanks to all. I always hoped my efforts would be rewarded, although I never expected this! CafePress is HQ'd about…

GOSH!!!!!!

I was reminded of the secular religion that is in evolution (or is it being created, I forget).

"But for many people, the science of climate change is not nearly as important as the religion of climate change. When Al Gore insisted yet again at a conference last Thursday that there can be no debate about global warming, he was speaking not with the authority of a man of science, but with the closed-minded dogmatism of a religious zealot. Dogma and zealotry have their virtues, no doubt. But if we want to understand where global warming has gone, those aren't the tools we need."

Famous quotes from poloitical leaders

"I envisage the princicles of the Earth Charter to be a new form of the ten commandments. They lay the foundation for a sustainable global earth community."
- Mikhail Gorbachev, co-author of The Earth Charter

"The fate of mankind, as well as of religion, depends upon the emergence of a new faith in the future. Armed with such a faith, we might find it possible to resanctify the earth."
- Al Gore, Earth in the Balance

"The greatest hope for the Earth lies in religionists and scientists uniting to awaken the world to its near fatal predicament and then leading mankind out of the bewildering maze of international crises into the future Utopia of humanist hope."
- Club of Rome, Goals for Mankind

We all must have religion. It is necessary for the state to control us, even if they do not call it a religion. Religion and state are always one, even when it appears they are not. So worship God or Gaia, or even both. Both religions have their End Times scenario and punishment for sins is hell (global warming). Christians can confess their sins and be restored, the rich just have to be able to afford the carbon credits and life can reamain good.

Hope and good in your thought and work are fighting with anxiety everywhere- Sigmund Freud called it collective neurosis.

Not every time and not every moment you can claim the victory over the anxiety, but you are willing to try again and again.

The skill and experience and attitude will polish your sight to look forwards.

No return is the beginning of religion.

We have talked about the addiction to drugs last week; they are tangible addicts. Some addicts are intangible; romance, fame, successful image.

Scott Peck in his book, "Further to the road less traveled" had explained about addiction-a kind of holy disease; the replacement of boredom and meaningful less in personal life. The persons prone to having addiction are sensitive persons; they are thirst of meaning, therefore it is called holy disease. Unfortunately, the way that they are solving the thirsty are addicting to a kind of replacement- drugs or romance.

Everyone somehow is addicting to something; it has been hard to identify it and overcome it-therefore, the author claimed that "Life is difficult."

There are many stories of overcoming the addictions. The motive or initiative of overcoming in general is a kind of self-love; people feel that the value of personal life is more than in the state of addiction- the self-love may be originated from being loved.

The stories from AAA- Anonymous Alcoholic are experiencing a kind of spiritual growth; the starting point is self-surrender and then feels that they are loved unconditionally. People could seek for psychological counseling is those who experiences self-surrender; they need help!

Folks, we are in the right search on the domain of public health.

Let me guess Huckabee was singing. Yuck!

Republican or Democratic: You've know that I am pro-bipartisan. :-)

The anxiety of nationalizing banks has been unbearable; if you want to increase the stimulus budget three times-you need to deal with anxiety and the actual stress. Don't be afraid of the grey hair-it is the symbol of wisdom.

I notice your aptitude of staunch independence growing slowly after one year practice; luckily you've restored the sense of humor. Go ahead, sometimes, learn from Michelle- show your biceps. Victoria. Yuk.

Hello, everyone, and MANY THANKS for the post and the comments.

FYI, we have a parody about stem cell research which might be of interest: "POSITION WANTED," to "I'm A Little Teapot." Click here to watch on YouTube; click here to watch on our VERSUS site.

With best regards from The VERSUS Team

Parody, parody! We've known you for centuries.

Sometimes, we remember you more than the articles of a columnist.

Here, our common language is pro-a- reductionist , weâve been trained to argue for cogency. Now you offer a new currency-
the ambivalence of laughers and tears; plus a longer memories.

We can exchange styles and augmenting our friendship.
And weâve owed each other only spontaneity.

You love us. And we respect you. Our tradition is helping marrying out daughters
And sisters most. And we never help marrying out mother has to be clear.

Goodness, I need to interpret the parody above to avoid the confusion. My fault, basically maybe due to English is not my first language. I have a colleague who was Oxon and working for BBC before always complained my English, he has to spend more time editing my business letter than he writes by himself.

But I can not request him to write here, right? Folks, please bear a bit.

My hero-Albert Schweitzer was a good medical doctor, an organ musician and a theologian. He was classic grade. So, EM is the best place to train the brilliant medical people- I sincerely believe it. The classic class for medical persons is to broaden the world view and constant vigilance on their mental models- science, ethics, religions, politics, etc. Thanks for Reveres. Generally you have asked good questions and done the right thing and direction, except⦠eheh.

Revere perhaps is a very good columnist â I am afraid that one day NYtimes spots him and offers him a column, and lose him here. "We will not help marrying out mother." So, please stay- we are all happy. :-)

Back to real life from parody a bit and take Gordon Brown's message of his recent trip to the US:

âIn our families and workplaces and places of worship, we celebrate men and women of integrity who work hard, treat people fairly, take responsibility and look out for others. If these are the principles we live by in our families and neighborhoods, they should also be the principles that guide and govern our economic life.â

I also like Obama's advice also:

" Get out of bed you slugger."

Anxiety reduces a bit.
