Has it really been One Year?

One year ago today the current incarnation of evolgen at ScienceBlogs was launched. A lot has happened in that year -- we junked DNA; we became terrified of manatees; we were voted the sexiest blog in all of scibloggistan by Nature; we were awarded the Nobel prizes for Physiology or Medicine, Peace, and Literature; we cured cancer -- but most notably, we changed banners. A lot. So, in honor of a full year without pissing on the floor (which is more than some folks can say) we're unveiling a new banner. Our last banner. The best banner of all time. This banner will be up until the internet tubes gain enough intelligence to overthrow us humans turning us into a race of meat puppets. Or until I get bored and change banners again in a few months weeks days hours . . . maybe later tonight.

You'll notice the new name: "coalesced". We're still trying to figure out if we like it or not. For now, we're still "evolgen", although our fickle sense of self-identity may lead us down a path of Prince-esque name changing (for the younguns out there -- well, I doubt there are that many people younger than me who frequent this hell hole -- Prince was Puff Daddy P Diddy Diddy Douchemaster McDoucherson way before Sean Combs went from Helly Hansen to many mansions . . . even recording his own music rather than sampling the hooks from old Police songs).

A record of all the previous evolgen banners (at least those I could track down) can be found below the fold.

Dear readers, if you frequent the other fine blogs here at ScienceBlogs, you will have noticed that a number of them have neat-looking banners. For example, look at Afarensis, or Evolgen, or Gene Expression, or Uncertain Principles, or Cognitive Daily. Check out the rotating cast of critters in…
The good Dr. William Hammesfahr was on Hannity and Colmes the other day, and Sean Hannity made it a point to refer to him as a "Nobel Prize nominee" about, oh, 1400 times in a single hour (a world record, I believe). A few examples: HANNITY: And we're going to talk to a doctor who spent 10 hours…
Jacob appears to be an enemy combatant in the War on ManateesTM. They are attacking the Northeast United States via our inland waterways. Jacob, who lives west of the continental divide, is safe from the attack. Many of us are not so lucky. Quit being such an enabler, Jacob. evolgen special feature…
I should be working instead of dicking around on the ole' blog. But, give me a break, I just washed 600 vials. I needed a break. After letting the new ugly banner and stupid name hang around for a week, I've decided it's time for an update. We're going back to being called evolgen (although you can…

Coalesced? Hmm, don't walk backwards: you'll split.

You're going to get a lot of readers searching unsuccessfully for a blog on coal essence.
