Clearly, Pace doesn't want Australians fighting with him

Marine General, Peter Pace, expressed the official view of the US militaryhis personal opinion that gays are immoral, and shouldn't be allowed to fight. Given that the Australian armed forces, and probably the British, Spanish and other allies allow gays in their military, it seems to me Gen. Pace is making a statement about who should be permitted to fight alongside the US...

I think we should return the favour. Any armed forces that has Gen. Pace in it is clearly an immoral and dissipated organisation, and we should simply refuse to fight alongside him.

Gay rights activists have launched a campaign nationwide to get the military's ban on gays serving openly in the armed forces lifted. The timing is probably as good as it could be with recruiting shortfalls in the news and a military that is seriously stretched thin. And the fact that they keep…
Much has been written about the incompetence with which the Bush administration has pursued the war and post-war occupation in Iraq. I'd like to add to our understanding of that situation by looking, in hindsight, at what was predicted with foresight before the war. Many of the people who were…
All this talk about how Republicans or Democrats support the troops in Iraq (rarely Afghanistan, notice?) got me thinking. Why should we support troops? Don't get me wrong. You probably have me pegged as a radical leftwing communist pacifist anarchist. Not at all (I'm not even libertarian; they…
A few days ago, General Pace tried to back the Don't Ask, Don't Tell program, claiming that homosexuality is immoral, like adultery. In fact, Don't Ask, Don't Tell is immoral, and has sapped our military of soldiers with vital skills. Anyway. Senator Brownback came out in favor of Pace’s…

"You're telling me ... you're telling me that I'm not moral enough to join the army, burn villages, kill women and kids because I've been convicted of littering??"

Or words to that effect ...

A military commander has the same duty of loyalty to his subordinates as they do to their superiors. Pace's attitude towards a large number of the men and women for whom he is ultimately responsible, in my view, makes him unfit for high command.
