Feedback now has to be authenticated

The snivelling little boy, Mats Envall, who thinks that walking into someone's living room and pissing on the floor is acceptable behaviour, has forced me to make comments require my manual authentication. I am sorry for the rest of you, but we are up to 122 spams from the idiot. Those who routinely comment I can mark as authenticated in general using IP numbers, so that might take the sting off it.

So far we have been relatively civilised here - I'm sorry that this troll has made things less pleasant for you all. I bet this is how Envall got his paper published, by effectively bullying the editors into accepting the very badly written and argued paper that started all this.

Anyone else who is thinking of commenting or even mentioning that paper: this is what Envall will do once you have - run to your private forums and spam.

More like this

Once upon a time, I made mention, simply a mention, of a paper by one Matts Envall, which I said I would later comment on. I did so because a friend of mine, Malte Ebach, told me about him and the paper. I have yet to appropriately thank Malte. My gratitude involves a water balloon, I think. This…
It's time for a serious post. E.g., a careful analysis of patterns of spam attempts on a widely-read but essentially dormant blog. The blog in question is now entitled "Walt, Even Randomer" and combines four years' of Walt at Random archives with the occasional new post that isn't right for the new…
So I've been offline a lot the last few weeks - as you know we had 10 kids in our house for a couple of days the week before Thanksgiving, and I was out of town until yesterday. While a few posts have gone up, I've spent absolutely no time on anything other than absolute necessities online. So…
One of the drawbacks of switching to a more popular blogging platform is more spam. Spambots just did not know how to comment on the old blog -- I got two just spams this year. In the last 24 hours spambots have tried to post about 100 comments. The spam filters stopped all of them, which is…

Does having a comment approved and posted on Evolving Thoughts qualify a person as an Elite Bastard?

Don't you have a killfile? PZ has been consigning spammers and other wise obnoxious and destructive commenters to the dungeon for quite a while. It would certainly be a lot less work.

For some reason, the junk filters don't work on my site, and the wanker was banned, but he tried to evade that ban by nymshifting and putting nonsense email addresses in (130 now, and still rising!). I will try to approve you all but Movable Type doesn't seem to like my configuration. And yes, you are all Elite Bastards.

We're all Elitist Bastards. Cool! Does that mean we get to put "EB" after our names? :-)
