Over at 2 Blowhards there's an interview with Greg Cochran. Greg is of course a "friend of the blog," and you mostly know him because of his work in the area of evolution. The adjective 'razor-sharp' comes to mind. Yikes.
In fairness, though, it didn't require extensive knowledge of foreign politics, physics, and history to tell that the invasion of Iraq was a terrible idea. It's humbling, though, to see how succinctly someone who does possess those knowledges can demonstrate it.

i think the key thing with greg is that he was loud and proud about his opinions in 2002-2003. unlike progressive/left political circles there wasn't any movement to reinforce his opinions, he was going against the flow of a 'popular' invasion, and in particular from his own camp.
All of the smart people *I* know were openly against the war from the start... that is, the ones who cared at all.
