On the performance front, the documentation states that applications such as Google Mail and Zoho Office run twice as fast in Firefox 3, compared to Firefox 2, and memory usage has been improved. In addition, bookmarks, history, cookies, and preferences are less susceptible to data loss.
If you are running Firefox, Help → Check for Updates... Or download. Please note that this does break a lot of plugins.

Casual users might not notice much difference between Firefox 2.0 and
IE 7.0. But with continued use, the advantages of Firefox
become increasingly evident. This is especially true for
people who take the initiative to install a lot of extensions.
Chrome Passes Firefox, Google May Pull Out Support: I stopped using Firefox around the 20th time it made me do something I shouldn't have had to do because it sucked as a browser. Firefox used to be my hero, now I regard it as somewhat dangerous, and I only use Google Chrome.

I've downloaded 3 in beta, and most of my plugins have gone AWOL - unfortunately, its even knocked out one or two from the 1.5 version I still use (2 was horribly slow for me) - its a pain without Unplug, for instance. Bookmarking is still a little patchy on 3, but overall not bad - and hopefully plugins should be available fairly soon.
