Tropic Thunder is worth watching again at a matinee price just for a closer observation of Tom Cruise's scenes.
Pineapple Express is not worth a matinee price.

The TV news shows are all abuzz with rumors over why no pictures have surfaced of Tom Cruise's baby with his handmaid fiance Katie Holmes. One rumor has it that Cruise won't sell the pictures unless he gets more than was offered for the pics of Brangelina's baby. That's plausible. Another rumor has…
Most people know by now that Isaac Hayes has quit working on South Park (he was the voice of Chef) because they did an episode making fun of Scientology. Comedy Central decided to pull the episode, and their reason for doing so is so ridiculous that no one in their right mind would buy it:

I saw the newest Transformers movie today. In terms of the cast, there were really only two who I felt were necessary in any way to the development of the film. Optimus Prime and Megan Fox.*

Meanwhile, Cruise has been busier pushing Scientology than anyone knew. According to a just-declassified State Department schedule, Cruise visited then-Deputy Secretary of State Richard Armitage on June 13, 2003, just an hour after Armitage had met with Washington Post reporter…

since you lack reading comprehension, back at you....
You have been a little cranky lately, Razib. Now that I know you sat through Pineapple Express I can certainly understand why. I was gobsmacked when our local reviewer gave it 4/4 stars. I'm pretty sure I know what he's on...
Tropic Thunder had its moments, for sure. But it wasn't really worth a NYC $12. Still, pretty damn funny. Tom Cruise was terrific.
Best acting performance of his career. Certainly more convincing than his pretense of not being gay.
Cruise came up with the idea of having big hands and dancing. Great stuff.
Meh. Cruise's performance was all in the makeup. Otherwise, it was just another Tom Cruise performance, one that was in his "crazy, explosive" mode he's already done in Born on the Fourth of July and Magnolia. It's Robert Downey's show, first and foremost.
And the makeup should win an Oscar.
