Where are the female Senators?

Bonnie Newman will be appointed Senator from New Hampshire. That means that 4 of the female Senators will be from the northeast portion of England; all of New Hamphsire & Maine's Senators are women. What about the rest of the country? Map below the fold.

Red = both Senators male
Tan = one Senator female
Blue = two Senators female

The 2016 Electoral Vote Prediction I'm finished making predictions for the 2016 Presidential Election contest. According to my model, Hillary Clinton will win with 310 electoral votes to Donald Trump's 228 electoral votes. The map is shown above. Caveats and wrongosities: My model puts Iowa barely…
UPDATE - 17:35 CDT: According to the New York Times, all holds are gone as of this afternoon, the Commerce Committee has unanimously approved the two nominees, and they're expected to be confirmed by unanimous consent early next week. But that's because the holds are still going. And going. And…
HOW TO REPORT VOTER INTIMIDATION Dump your comments and observations here. I'll be looking at several SOS web sites, and eventually I'll find the best on line tracker of results for the whole country. During the primaries, the Washington Post was the best. Let me know if you have any ideas. So far…
Some debate below about the various parameters which shape social pathologies. One of facts which we are well aware of is that the United States has a lot of homicide compared to other developed countries. But another fact which is also well known is that a disproportionate number of these…

Hawaii should be red.

I recommend using a different color for the states with one female Senator. The tan color fades into the white background when set next to the primary colors of blue and red that capture the viewer's attention, and the color is close to red. This makes it seem at first glance like only the four blue states have women Senators. For an alternative, purple naturally represents a point between the blue and red extremes and may make the map more instantly readable.

On the other hand, this is a good color scheme if the goal is to highlight those states that have both Senators of the same sex. It does draw attention to the large number of states with two male Senators.

I agree with Tang although would also add that using a red-blue color scheme is also not ideal because of the prior mental connections with those colors when mapping US states. I'd actually be curious as to see how much this overlaps with various political affiliations. At a glance it certainly looks like more "liberal"(for lack of a better word) states are more likely to have female senators but then there are all the southern states with a female senator. It might also be interesting to look at this over the course of a few years and see how things have changed.
