Is Hawking, for physics, as populariser analogous to Dawkin's for biology, perchance?

from what i understand hawking has made many substantive contributions to theoretical physics, while dawkins' has not made much original research contribution to evolutionary biology. hawkings is overrated insofar as his books have crazy blurbs like "greatest physicist since einstein."
