Creation, a biopic about Charles Darwin, premiers tomorrow at the Toronto International Film Festival. Trailer below....
Last month everyone was all a-twitter about the big screen Charles Darwin biopic, Creation. The film, based upon the biography Annie's Box, was released in England with great fanfare, but whether it would come to the United States was another question altogether. A U.S. distributor was hard to come…
Yesterday, I read something in international news that made me so mad I needed to share it with you: That's right; my home country, the United States, will not distribute this film. There was no problem for the movie Expelled, a poorly argued anti-evolution flop that grossed just $7,598,071…
Darwin biopic Creation premiered in seven movie theaters across the country last weekend, earning $53,073, an average of $7,582. That's not a lot of money, but at roughly $10/ticket, this works out to 760 viewers per theater, a solid showing. I know the theater I saw it at was full for their 7 pm…

Bloody hell, but they're doing their best to make sure no one sees this movie, aren't they?

If by "they", you mean the distributor, you would be right. The same company also released "Legion" on the same weekend. It's like burying their own child.

In any event, all the reviews say its a tepid period piece anyway. Maybe someone will do the subject greater justice in the near future.
