Is a semi-organized effort to 'crash' obnoxious internet polls ethically acceptable? Is it boring? Is it stupid? I sometimes ask myself that question.
But it's complicated and will take a while to work out. In the mean time, PZ Myers points out this poll regarding the recent suggestion by a Maine school board member to drop evolution from the science classroom in his district.

On one hand, we have the Huckabee factor ... Huckabee's draw on hard right voters in tomorrows primary may lead anti-evolutionists to victory. On the other hand, we have the Obama factor ... Obama's draw on moderate republicans may lead to a cleansing of pernicious liberal elements from the…
In the wake of the recent efforts of a School Administrative District in Maine to expel evolution from the curriculum, we now have a pointless poll seeking the vox populi on this badly worded question: "A school board member in SAD 59 wants the topic of evolution dropped from high school science…
A survey conducted by the St. Petersburg Times shows that half of the respondents want "only faith-based theories such as creationism or intelligent design" taught in public school classrooms, and only 22 percent want evolution-only life science curriculum.

I had not intended to do another post on this subject. But in response to P.Z.'s post , my fellow Panda's Thumber Burt Humburg left a lengthy comment that I feel requires a response. So I'll ask your patience as we go one more round...

Greg,
I used to lurk on your blog a lot,wtf is wrong with you lately mate, all this Ubuntu crap(talk about praying to the choir here)and this jumping onto PZ's poll bandwagon, dont you have anything original to say,are you busy moving house, what is it??
Clint,
I've posted several original items over the last few days. Why have you not read them yet? Are you not interested in tornadoes? or fishing?
But yes, it is true that I've been writing less. I've been very ill, though I am now quickly in a recovery mode and am able to do more. But there is some catching up to do.
The ubuntu stuff is simply a daily video. ... just one per day ... in a sequence that makes some sense. ... ah, yes, the last one was the most recently posted ... clearly they have reached a kind of crescendo ...
THE BIGGER PICTURE IN THE DEBATE ON DARWINISM IS NOT INTELLIGENT DESIGN.
The reason is elementary: the Discovery Institute and other ID proponents leave out the Triune God, Father, Jesus, and the Holy Spirit. Hence, Richard Dawkins can make the case for aliens seeding the earth.
There is a better, far superior way.
The Quest for Right, a series of 7 textbooks created for the public schools, represents the ultimate marriage between an in-depth knowledge of biblical phenomena and natural and physical sciences. The several volumes have accomplished that which, heretofore, was deemed impossible: to level the playing field between those who desire a return to physical science in the classroom and those who embrace the theory of evolution. The Quest for Right turns the tide by providing an authoritative and enlightening scientific explanation of natural phenomena which will ultimately dethrone the unprofitable Darwinian view.
A review:
"I am amazed at the breadth of the investigation - scientific history, biblical studies, geology, biology, geography, astronomy, chemistry, paleontology, and so forth - and find the style of writing to be quite lucid and aimed clearly at a general, lay audience." ― Mark Roberts, former Editor of Biblical Reference Books, Thomas Nelson Publishers.
Yea, but it would be extremely illegal and obnoxious, yes?
Internet polls are far from scientific and are only there for entertainment purposes. So, I'm not sure how "crashing" them could be unethical when they are meaningless to begin with. It's all in good fun and no one gets hurt.
Since C. David has commented here, I will offer for free perusal a sample of Volume 1 of QFR.
Hint: It's not science.
