Raped 13 year old executed for religious reasons

A thirteen year old is brutally raped by three men. Since this constituted sexual relations outside of marriage, she was sentenced to death.

She was buried in a hole up to her neck. She pleaded for her life. "Don't kill me. Don't kill me..." she cried.

Then fifty men threw stones at her head until she was dead, as one thousand others looked on.

... witness ... said she had been crying and had to be forced into a hole before the stoning, reported to have taken place in a football stadium.

"More than 1,000 people arrived there," he said.

"After two hours, the Islamic administration in Kismayo brought the lady to the place and when she came out she said: 'What do you want from me?'"

"They said: 'We will do what Allah has instructed us'. She said: 'I'm not going, I'm not going. Don't kill me, don't kill me.'

"A few minutes later more than 50 men tried to stone her."

The witness said people crowding round to see the execution said it was "awful".

"People were saying this was not good for Sharia law, this was not good for human rights, this was not good for anything."

But no-one tried to stop the Islamist officials, who were armed, the witness said. He said one boy was shot in the confusion.

According to Amnesty International, nurses were sent to check during the stoning whether the victim was still alive. They removed her from the ground and declared that she was, before she was replaced so the stoning could continue.

People were saying this was not good for Sharia law, this was not good for human rights, this was not good for anything.

Understated quote of the week. Unfortunately, this poor girl is not the first twice turned into a victim by sharia law, nor will she be the last.

Makes the blood boil.

According to Amnesty International, nurses were sent to check during the stoning whether the victim was still alive. They removed her from the ground and declared that she was, before she was replaced so the stoning could continue.

Wait What?! This makes no sense. Why would amnesty international nurses put the girl back for more stoning? Also, I noticed that the girl was referred to as "lady". Ugh. Sickening. She is a year and a half younger than my youngest niece. Wonder what happened to the asshats that raped her? Why is it hard for people to understand that rape = unwanted sex = and thus does not equal sex outside of marriage. Is this an extreme extension of how people in western countries used to say that a woman who is raped "must have been asking for it?"

@Kelly, the article doesn't say that the AI nurses put her back. The reason that the victim is referred to as a 'lady' is because even under sharia law a 13-year old can't be punished for adultery. So the local officials decided she was 23.

My personal suspicion is that the girls attackers were somehow connected, or related, to the officials. So she was murdered to shut her up. In the final analysis that is what *all* religion winds up being used for - to justify the excesses of those in power.

RE: Kelly

Kelly - please re-read the quote. Amnesty International nurses did not "put the girl back" -- AI reported that nurses examined then put the girl back for continued stoning.

Regardless - it is deplorable that such behavior is not only happening, but institutionalized in many parts of the world. It is also appaling to think that many radical moslem communities agitate for acceptance of Sharia law in the west (including in France, Holland, Canada, UK, and others).

Civil rights are challenged enough with existing western statutes - never mind the medieval practices enshrined in Sharia law.

This is not about religious freedom. This is about religious tyranny.

You're just being culturally insensitive. All cultures must be respected and to impose any universal standard of justice would be a violation of autonomy.

Sharia law is fucking nuts, and until our world leaders get over this undeserved respect to religious traditions, we will suffer together.

This is one instance where I would support the United States going in, kidnapping those responsible, burying them up to their necks, and stone them. Use small stones, make sure it lasts a long long time.

Gravel them!

This is a recycled urban legend, Greg, and you've fallen for it.

The original tale is in: Caravan by James Michener in the 50s:
"In this romantic adventure of wild Afghanistan, master storyteller James Michener mixes the allure of the past with the dangers of today. After an impetuous American girl, Ellen Jasper, marries a young Afghan engineer, her parents hear no word from her. Although she wants freedom to do as she wishes, not even she is sure what that means. In the meantime, she is as good as lost in that wild land, perhaps forever....
"An extraordinary novel....Brilliant."

Sharia law has nothing at all to do with raped 13 year olds. Kismayo is a 'lost' town in southern Somalia, fucked up by a secret American 'War On Terrorism'.

If there are any telephone lines left to get out a story like this, then they're operated by the CIA.

This is just sad. The Islamic fascists make it look like it'd actually matter if she was 13 or 23. I mean, come ON, she was RAPED.
