My favorite Easter story

I bet you didn't imagine that I would have an Easter story. Well, I've got one and it consists of nothing more than a mercifully short dialog between me and my daughter when she was very little:

"Dad, do you believe in the Easter Bunny?"

"Well, what do you think? Do you believe in the Easter Bunny?"

"Well, I don't know, I'm thinking about it."

"Well, is this important? Why is it important to you to know if the Easter Bunny exists?

"I don't really care about the Easter Bunny. But if the Easter Bunny existed, it would sure make it a lot easier to believe in Santa Claus!"

Dear Sharon: Some of my friends say there is no Santa Claus. But I really need to know if there is. My Mom has been telling me about something called global warming, and I'm worried about Santa, because he lives up at the North Pole, and if it melts, he'll be in trouble. My Mom said some grownups…
I'm sitting at the computer typing, when the dog bumps up against my legs. I look down, and she's sniffing the floor around my feet intently. "What are you doing down there?" "I'm looking for steak!" she says, wagging her tail hopefully. "I'm pretty certain that there's no steak down there," I say…

Well challenged, small one.

From the minds of babes flow the freshest thoughts.

I trust she got a smile and a hug for her efforts.

Parents never told me about the Easter Bunny (or the Tooth Fairy). First ran across them in kindergarten.
