Can prayer reduce the number of abortions?

One of the most interesting stories in evolutionary biology is reviewed by Larry Moran: On the Origin of the Double Membrane in Mitochondria and Chloroplasts

At least one bad idea by Big Oil has been stopped.

You know I was really pissed off at the crap ENCODE was promoting, that the genome was at least 80% functional and that there was no such thing as junk DNA. And there have been a number of better qualified scientists (like W. Ford Doolittle and Dan Graur and many others) who have stood up and…

I'll have no truck with any argument that employs the premise that reducing abortion is a good thing.

Increase the effectiveness and availability of contraception, please do, but don't disfigure the boon of modern abortion, now an easy and problem-free medical procedure involving no surgical intervention if available early enough, by describing it as undesirable.

As long as there are women who have functioning wombs and are sexually active, to describe abortion as something you want to reduce is as empty and as insulting as saying you want to wipe out chemotherapy.
