No Assassination Attempt on Mahmoud Ahmadinejad Today.

In Iran, there was NOT an assassination attempt on Mahmoud Ahmadinejad. Here is a picture of him not being assassinated as his bodyguards don't react to anything as startled onlookers glance at the cite where there was not an explosion behind them.

The BBC also reports that nothing happened in Iran today. Aljazeera.net, on the other hand, reports: Iran denies attack on Ahmadinejad.

Dr. Jim Walsh     The imagination reels.  Five dinners with Iran's President Ahmadinejad.  What would you discuss?  What would be your top questions? MIT alumnus Dr. Jim Walsh did just that, and will report to us via an interview on Monday, June 4 via a live chat.  From the announcement: My…
Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad spoke at Columbia University earlier today. Judging from this clip, it looks like he made a fool of himself. According to the New York Times, it seems something vaguely evolution related came up: He then gave a speech that meandered from science and religion…

It's Saturday, and it's' sort of tradition to set the topic to something not necessarily connected to science. At this point I think there's not a whole lot in the world that's of more immediate interest than what's going on in Iran. The summary, which you already know: Iran is a theocratic state…

My question being, WHY not?

I am NOT surprised that someone had NOT not attempted an assassination before this NON-attempt. If we DON'T think about it the Iranian people are NOT disenfranchised with their government and they are NOT ready to move toward a more secular society. If we wanted to help stabilize the region and possibly slow terrorist training camps, we should NOT think about helping Iranian dissidents overthrow their completely UN-corrupted government.

Ahmadinejad may be a right bastard, but I retain a sneaking admiration for any head of state who habitually does not wear a tie.
