I assume that all my Americans visitors have filed their income taxes by now? Well, if not, just nod your head up and down anyway because the IRS has been looking at my blog this past week (yikes) and who knows what sort of spyware they might be testing!
I mistakenly assumed that all online income tax services were the same, that it didn't matter which one I used, but I learned the hard way that this is absolutely not true. But I finally filed my state taxes -- late. I've never filed my taxes late before, and I certainly hadn't planned on that happening this time, either, since I had finished and efiled them many weeks ago, or so I thought!
My federal income taxes were accepted awhile ago but my state taxes .. disappeared. I checked on them several times but learned that any answers to questions I asked of the filing service -- questions such as Where the hell did my state taxes go? You know, the taxes that I paid $19.95 to e-file? -- required an additional payment of $6.95.
So I refiled everything using taxslayer (they would not allow me to only file state income taxes, so I had to refile my federal taxes, too), at an additional cost of $9.95. I know, it's confusing.
Anyway, a friend, hearing of my plight due to that lame-ass "IRS approved" online income tax shakedown, er, "preparation" service that I stupidly tried to use, sent me some online tax forms to complete. So I am sharing them with you. Be sure to mouse over the colored areas to aquaint yourself with some changes that have been made to the federal tax code.
Thanks, Dawn!

This was the first year I tried to efile and the thing bounced based on the electronic signature. I know I entered all the data properly so it must have gotten garbled in transmission or screwed up by the software. I used a free efile through the IRS site so at least I didn't have to pay for the screw-up.
