It's Coming!

Okay, my peeps, my story is coming very soon. I am downloading the pictures now, but this is taking longer than I want it to. Grr! But I can say now that this story is about an amazing paper that came out today in Science, and this paper will change the way we all think about avian evolution.

Even better, I am almost certain that several of the authors will respond to reader comments! Well, give them a chance to come back down to planet Earth, okay? They did say they can begin responding to reader comments tomorrow. The AAAS flew them in to Washington DC for a press conference this morning, National Public Radio interviewed them last night (story to be aired tomorrow morning on Morning Edition), they have a talk this evening and have been rehearsing it most of the afternoon, and they've been flooded out with reporters' interview requests, too. Yet, in the midst of all this excitement, they had time for moi. As much time as I wanted, it seemed. How wonderful is that?

And NO, I am not pregnant! HORRORS!!

I want to thank several people who have recently sent gifts to me during my hospital stay (yes, I am still in the hospital by the way, and probably will remain so for another month). I know that some of my benefactors would like to remain anonymous, so I'll just leave notice of my appreciation on…

OK, I posted a lot of pictures of Belgrade and my Mom's food so far, but the real business was on Tuesday, when I gave two talks about Open Access, PLoS, Science 2.0, the future of the scientific paper, Open Notebook Science and science blogging. In the morning, I gave a talk in the gallery of the…
Okay, so now I'm in Cincinnati (flew in from St. Paul this morning) for the National Women's Studies Association national conference (in a unionized hotel, please note). I missed the last day of Inclusive Science, but really enjoyed myself, and felt I had something to contribute. Things feel a…

Oooooooh! So cooool! (AAAS posted an article).

My kids are killing me (for an hour now) to get off the computer, but I'll be back to read your take on the story.

Does this mean that your CV just took a giant leap forward? If so congrats.

Okay - look. I'm sure that smsitemeter7.com is terribly important to Seed, but I wish they'd fix it so that the actual page content (you know, the words we're here to read) would show up while we wait fot the sitemeter to load. I hate staring at a blank white page while something behind the scenes hangs ... it's worse when it's some ad-related server, of course, but still.

Now that's off my chest - how cool!!!!!!!!!!!!
