Thanks to all of you ...

I want to thank several people who have recently sent gifts to me during my hospital stay (yes, I am still in the hospital by the way, and probably will remain so for another month).

I know that some of my benefactors would like to remain anonymous, so I'll just leave notice of my appreciation on my blog where I know you will find it (you know who you are, and you can reveal yourselves, or not, as you wish).

Gifts that I recently received are books (ooo, lots of beautiful books) and a DVD;

Books of poetry and prose by one of my two favorite living poets, the amazing and gifted Mary Oliver;

Another book that I received has been on my wishlist for a long time;

I am currently reading a gift-book, Brazzaville Beach by William Boyd (1990), that has been recommended to me repeatedly by several readers. Finally, one reader, my fellow SciBling and blog pal, Coturnix, decided to buy it and send it to me, and I just wanted to say that I am so in love with this beautifully written book -- I wish I could write so well!

And I also received a DVD movie that I love, Chicken Run

.

Another reader took mercy on me, being caffeine-free for longer than two months, and sent me chocolate covered coffee beans, which I finished off this morning. Can you feel me buzzing from the caffeine, dear readers?

So once again, thanks to you, my peeps, for everything. And be sure to keep the comments coming! I love hearing from all of you. Your comments are copied to my gmail box, so I have been responding to many of you via email.

I always enjoy picking up my mail from my post office box, but there are days -- many days, recently -- when walking to my post office to check my snailmail is the only thing that I look forward to each day. And so it was yesterday; once again, I enjoyed a small break by walking to my mailbox…
Recently, I received a gift from a long-time reader; the gift of a beautiful book that I've wanted for a long time, New York: An Illustrated History by Ric Burns and James Sanders. This book is filled with breath-taking photographs and illustrations, and is completely absorbing. I have already…

I don't want to be your peep. May I be your candy corn?

I've been thinking of you and wondering how you are doing. I'm glad that you are receiving such thoughtful gifts. If you are responding to comments via email, would you send me the address to where things like chocolate covered coffee beans can be sent. Was that dark or milk chocolate? Sending good cheer and a warm hello from the pacific northwest.

i emailed my hospital mailing address to you, but my comment regarding chocolate is for anyone who cares; dark chocolate is my favorite, especially for chocolate-covered coffee (or espresso) beans! yummy!
